BuroSix organised a press trip to Philadelphia to boost the city’s visibility in the Dutch market. The focus was on showing what makes Philadelphia unique—from its world-famous street food and vibrant street art to its deep-rooted history and local flair. As a result, Philadelphia was put in the spotlight for Dutch travellers and media.

The challenge

Philadelphia doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. Overshadowed by nearby East Coast cities, it often flies under the radar for Dutch travellers. The goal was to shift that perception by highlighting everything that makes Philly stand out. For example, the city’s street food, street art, rich history, and local culture all deserved a bigger stage.

The solution

Together with our partners, we organized a four-day press trip to Philadelphia for a select group of Dutch print and online media. The programme focused on variety, authenticity, and experience. Highlights included tastings of global cuisines and the famous Philly cheesesteak, street art walks, museum visits, and encounters with local creatives. In addition, stories of the city’s rich history—from independence to innovation—were shared throughout the trip. The itinerary was broad and balanced to match different audiences and media styles. As a result, the group represented lifestyle, culture, food, and travel media with strong reach in the Dutch market.

Message delivered successfully

The Philadelphia press trip generated featured coverage across online, print, and social media platforms. Participants became genuine ambassadors for Philadelphia. Their positive, personal stories captured the city’s spirit. In addition, relationships with key Dutch media were strengthened. As a result, Philadelphia’s visibility as a must-visit destination in the US grew significantly.
