11 Nov Portland proclaimed as best food city in America
A new report from WalletHub concludes that Portland is the number one food city in the United States. Portland left behind New York, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and other large cities. WalletHub annually compares more than 180 of the largest U.S cities amongst 30 key metrics with data sets such as accessibility, quality, and affordability.
Portland ranked 5th last year but managed, due to an increase in diversity and service, to rank number 1 this year. The city offers more than 600 food trucks, many bars, restaurants and coffee shops, and more than 75 micro-breweries. The high quality predominately comes from the use of regional products that get purchased from the farmers markets around the city.
Besides only looking at the highest-ranked cites, Wallethub also looked at the lowest-scoring cities. A few of these include West Valley City in Utah, Augusta in Georgia, Jackson in Mississippi, Juneau in Alaska and Pearl City in Hawaii.
